Suggester says, "This picture is iconic. It was this man, whose death has gone unnoticed by the media, who propagated the sign of the horns in the heavy metal music!"

Description

I wanted to post, what I believed to be an iconic image of the beloved Ronnie James Dio, who was taken away from us this morning after a battle with stomach cancer.

Dio is the greatest vocalist in metal and paved the way for metal to exist in the capacity it does today.

to say this is the most tragic loss in metal history, is a vast understatement.

RIP Dio. You will forever be the flame of which no one could ever hold a candle to.

:(

hers a blog i posted in memory of DIO: [link]

NOTE - DD: Thanks so much for the DD - i feel so honored, but even more so, I am very happy that this is also honoring the greatest singer in metal of all time. Lets remember how amazing his music, his words, and everything that he gave to us. We should celebrate his presence - as it truely was a gift. RIP DIO.

Also - everyone should look into donating some money to the new Ronnie James Dio - Stand Up and Shout cancer fund which you can send in here = 12400 Ventura Blvd. #837, Studio City, CA 91604 USA. or via paypal/credit card on dios website www.ronniejamesdio.com

RIP

A master of rock poetry

His songs, with his lyrics, are dazzling flame running on iron

From the most peaceful to the most brutal, every piece of his is a treasure

I'm too young to appreciate him fully, but the feelings his art inspires are clear
